Anyone feeling creative?

Newspaper I work for is holding a new contest for employees and their families to design a new newspaper mascot. The name is Inky, and it currently is a guy who dressed up in a suit made to look like a giant rolled up newspaper.

The flyer on the contest says that we need to create a fresh, new, hip Inky. The following guidelines must be met:
1. Must be hand-drawn or computer-generated
2. Have a fresh, hip and friendly look
3. Entry deadline is March 3.

Any ideas to help catalyze my creative juices?

Inky sounds like a squid. A squid with glasses and a pencil behind its ear.
