The reasoning is:
your bid is basically considered an accepted contract negotiation with that player, then another owner/team has the opportunity to increase the amount. The latest accepted bid is set in stone
That's fine by me, I had moved 1M from 2012 to 2011 in Hines Ward's contract but I just switched it back to the initial 2011 - 4M, 2012 - 2M from my original offer. Reasoning here makes sense to me as well.
