Question for the commissioners regarding re-signing players.

To resign a player after their contract has run out, the base salary will be the average of the top 5 highest paid players at that position. If you choose not to resign a player, they will be up for free agency bidding.
When calculating the base salary for re-signing, do you use the five highest paid players based on Average Yearly Salary or do you use their salaries from the previous year? I only ask because a lot of teams have been front-loading contracts, and if we've been using previous year's salaries, the franchise number for a couple of positions, especially wide receiver, could be astronomically high.
Kudos to Leber for the amazing sig and to Metroid for the userbar and making them both fit 2008 and 2009 Defunct Dynasty League Champion

Sorry, dream usually calculates that, so I'm not sure.
Those front loaded contracts worried me at the time....not against the current rules, but maybe we should look at that for future seasons.

It is the actual salary being paid for the current year - so, it will be the 2011 salary of the top 5 to create the re-signing amount. The numbers recently have been within the same range, if they start to become outragous then we will take a look at the issue (vote/rule change)

If you use 2011 salary to calculate the 2011 re-signing number, then I don't think there will be an issue, since most of the front-loaded contracts only have absurdly high salaries for 2010. Thanks for the clarification.
