Vikes After Rosenfels

Postby BlueBandit24 » Thu Feb 28, 2008 8:00 pm

Apparently the Vikes offered a 3rd for Texans QB Sage Rosenfels and they want a 2nd. If we can get him for a 3rd, I think it would be a pretty sage move (pun absolutely intended). He had success last year in extended duty with Schaub out and would push T-Jax, potentially overtaking him for the starting gig. We have two 3rd's so parting with one for a quality option at QB makes sense.

A pair of veteran backup quarterbacks who out-shone the starters they replaced in 2007 are in high demand as the agency period prepares to open early Friday morning.

According to a league source, Minnesota is offering Houston a third-round 2008 draft pick in exchange for backup Sage Rosenfels, who went 4-1 last season in place of injured Texans starter Matt Schaub. Houston, which finished a franchise-best 8-8 last season, is said to be seeking a second-round pick in exchange for Rosenfels, who is not a free agent.

Nope to the 2nd rounder.

3rd, maybe, what are other options out there?

Ryan could fall, but I'm not even sure I'd do that.

Gosh I hate young QBs. :-t

The deal reportedly died last night after the Vikes refused to part with a 2nd, but some feel they have backed off that stance. I don't want to give up a 2nd, but with two 3rds I'd part with one for Rosenfels.

J.P. Losman could be had and probably for a 5th rounder or later. He would be a solid addition who didn't cost much. Worth a shot since the risk is very low.

No thanks to any QB in the 1st. I don't think any are worthy this year to be honest.

Rosenfels? ...yuck. Childress must not like having good QB's.
