Derek Anderson signed with the Browns:

RotoWorld wrote:Derek Anderson has agreed to a multiyear contract to stay with the Browns. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that it is for three years, with $14 million guaranteed.

Anderson may have given up short-term money to stay, but his best chance for a long career and another big payday soon was to be a Brown. He is only one year older than Brady Quinn and would put himself in great position with another Pro Bowl quality year. This is good news for Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow, and the Browns skill players

RotoWorld wrote:Jaguars agreed to terms with Cleo Lemon.

A nice fit for both sides. Lemon played capably in a difficult situation last year, and should be an upgrade over Quinn Gray. Lemon sometimes plays too conservatively, but that fits Jacksonville's style, as does his mobility.

Great move IMO. The Jags have a quality backup for the now-franchise QB David Garrard.

So you are including trades? If so:

RotoWorld wrote: Jaguars acquired Troy Williamson from the Minnesota Vikings.

The deal was agreed to three days ago, but made official by the team this morning. The Jags still didn't disclose what they gave up for Williamson, but it's likely a sixth-round pick that could improve based on performance. He'll have to become more consistent to be the deep threat the Jags are hoping for.

RotoWorld wrote:Saints finilized a deal to acquire Jonathan Vilma Friday, sending a conditional 2009 pick to New York for him.

The Saints checked Vilma out medically Monday, so they must be confident in his ability to recover from knee surgery. If healthy, Vilma is one of the premier middle linebackers in football. We don't know the terms of the pick, but it will be partly based on Vilma's play. Our guess? It's a third or second-round pick that can upgrade.

RotoWorld wrote:NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars agreed to terms with Jerry Porter on a six-year, $30 million contract, with $10 million guaranteed.

That's almost reasonable in this market. Jacksonville likes their wideouts bulky and Porter will help in the red zone, hurting Reggie Williams. Porter will start, probably opposite Williams or Matt Jones, with Dennis Northcutt in the slot. Porter should be a solid starter, their nominal "number one," but his fantasy potential is limited to WR3/4 status in a conservative spread-the-wealth offense. Troy Williamson's chance to make an impact just went down.

Finally, a receiver who can catch on the Jags!

TAPEH RETURNS HOME

The Vikings have announced that they have signed fullback Thomas Tapeh, an unrestrictred free ageny who previously played for the Eagles.

Tapeh attended the University of Minnesota and grew up in the Twin Cities. He spent two seasons working with Vikings coach Brad Childress when Childress was the offensive coordinator in Philly.

Another trade from this morning:

RotoWorld wrote:Browns acquired DL Corey Williams from the Packers in exchange for a second-round pick.

Green Bay gets the No. 56 pick overall. Williams, 27, has been a gap-shooter in the Packers' scheme, but at 6'4/315, has enough size to take on blockers. He'll get a long-term deal from Cleveland that's likely close to the $50 million pact Tommy Kelly signed with Oakland. The Browns' defensive line adds a lot of talent with the move, but are left without a first- or second-round pick in April. The Packers, who still have terrific interior depth, made out very well.
