Warrick Dunn Released

Postby eaglesfan » Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:50 am

Not huge news but....

Wish granted: Falcons release Warrick Dunn

Falcons released RB Warrick Dunn.

The move saves $2.3 million in cap room. Dunn, 33, was miscast as a starter for the past two seasons in Atlanta, but had 37 receptions in 2007 and is still a fine passing-down back. The Lions and Texans will be interested. Mar. 3 - 11:42 am et

I think he ends up in either Tampa or Indy

I could see Indy signing him and I could see him wanting to go play for Dungy on a winning team like that. They could use a veteran RB to backup Addai instead of just having to plug some random player into that spot should Addai go down again.

I agree. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Dunn in Indy to spell Addai and help out in the passing game. He's got to be better than Kenton "Butterfingers" Keith. :-b

Plus, he's a good guy and could provide some definate veteran leadership and knowledge to some back-field. IND seems like as good a place as any...

Butterfingers? C'mon, it was one play...albeit in a really important game, but still. :-D

If he's willing to sign for one year for very little money, I'd love to see him in Indy. Personally, I think he still has something in the tank, so long as he's playing second fiddle. Bobby Petrino abused him and didn't help Dunn's value by changing the entire running scheme in Atlanta.

Packers seem like a viable destination since they run the zone blocking scheme which made dunn great in atlanta. But we won't overpay and are never active early in free agency. If the pot settles and he is hanging around we will sign him on the cheap.
ADMIN edit: please note that the overall sig limit is 12k - thanks!
