I meant gangs don't tag their "territory" as much anymore. It's just known. At least that has been my experience. I know gangs are still going strong, and people are still dying everyday. There was a case here in MN where a 14 year old was killed by a bat, because he was wearing what were thought to be colors of his gang. The only problem was he wasn't in a gang. I don't venture into the ghetto too often so I could be wrong in that factor. But, gang tagging are pretty obvious, rather than a "life" or whatever tag. That's all I was saying. If there had been a 5-point crown, I would've been concerned.
You said "The whole gang thing hasn't been around for years. I understand that there still might be a few, but it isn't as nearly as prevalent as it was in the 70s."
That is just not true. Whether you're talking about the gangs themselves or gang activity that statement is just not the way it is. Maybe it isn't as prevalent in you're area but I can tell you for a fact it is here. I can go just about anywhere here in Stockton and find an ASW, Norte, SUR 13, or whatever tagged on a lamp post or the side of a building...it's a mess.
If you read my last post you wouldn't have needed to post that.
Yeah the Mexican gangs or Salvadorian where ever the MS13 is from are messing stuff up, I get that. And even said I may be wrong and in my experience.
I just meant that tagging for gangs doesn't seem to be as big, clearly there are exceptions, and all. People just know. That's the MS13 territory so don't go there if you're in the rival gang, can't remember their name might have something to do with a 8 or a 10. I've seen the gangland shows, I've seen the documentaries. I understand that gang activity is still high, I just didn't think tagging was as big.
Hell, I've had two friends think about joining gangs. I guess I should've, and thought I did in that last post, that I meant tagging. Not killings, shooting, beating, drug-selling, pimping, or whatever gangs might be into.
Maybe a tag here and there, but you can find that anywhere.
Oh yeah I gotcha, I read your last post too, I figured you were talking about the "tagging" and your experiences in your area. I was just saying that here in Cali its going strong as ever sadly.
Yeah, it's in Cali especially too. I do know there have been MS13 sighting all around the states including MN and others in the Midwest. But, Cali has it the worst! Sorry my man.

Yeah it's crappy. Here in Stockton there is a heavy saturation of Latino gangs, mostly Norte's...I believe they are a faction of Bloods and SUR 13 which I believe are Crips. There is also a HUGE Asian gang influence here called ASW(Asian Street Walkers).
What is: "The prison sentence I'd give idiots that spray paint things they don't own"?
Seriously, I dunno, but idiots doing that is annoying (not enough to give them life in jail - was just joking - but graffiti is annoying and classless ).
I agree for the most part but it certain situations I would consider it art. There are places that have contests for taggers on fences and walls and then leave it up. somer of that stuff is really awesome. Those guys that wit the play grounds, alleys, trains buses and the like I kinda agree with you madison.
You could think of government workers like teenagers. You pay them an allowance, but do you get any work out them? They eat the food, put their feet on the furniture and complain loudly whenever they are unhappy.
