Good Sports Books, Anyone???

Postby Dr. Duran Duran » Thu Mar 06, 2008 4:02 am

Lately, I've really enjoyed reading sports books rented out from my local library. Just today I read "Juiced" by Jose Canseco. Very interesting book, I must say. I look quite forward to reading "Game of Shadows" sometime in the near future. But I digress.

What I really wanted to ask in this thread are the following - what are some of the best sports books you've read and why?

Loose Balls by Jayson Williams--the former NJ Net that allegedly shot his limo driver.
The book was written before the incident, but gives a funny look at the life of an NBA player in the 90s. I liked it a lot.

I haven't read it, but I fully intend to do so: The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game

A friend recommended it to me after I expressed that I enjoyed Moneyball. It's the same writer so I expect it to be decent at the very least.

Anyone know of any good Pro Wrestling books about the inside workings of the business?

God Save the Fan, by Will Leich. He's the founder of Deadspin. Funny and provocative read.

LOL, I was gonna say Moneyball too, but most people around here hate baseball. :-?

Define a sports book? Cause I think the only one I've read was The Natural. That was pretty good.
Keep it lit.

Yeah, I probably should have clarified that. I meant like a memoir, insider or autobiography.

I plan on reading Dungy's book in the near future. I hear it is really good.
