Gators got another stud defensive recruit in #4 ranked DE Nick Kasa
Nick Kasa is a real terror coming off of the edge. He has a huge frame at 6-foot-7, but is fast enough and stays low enough to give most offensive tackles problems when he rushes the passer off of the edge. He is solid in a lot of areas, but his best quality is his quickness off of the ball.
6-7, 235 lbs, and the guy runs track
More athletic guys for the defense. Add this guy to the others we have currently, and the recruits this season and the defense looks like it will be good for a while.
Just saw Cam Newton was arrested last night for felony burglary and larceny after stealing a kids laptop. He was suspended by the team. That means all we have is Tebow and Brantley at QB if Newton is gone.
Carlos Dunlap is now second in the SEC in sacks, and he doesn't play every down
I was looking at the new DE that committed (Nick Kasa). The guy is the same height as Dunlap, but weighs 20lbs less. They run the same 4.6 forty though. I would not want to be a QB with those 2 on the ends and Hunter/Davis/Marsh/Patchan (whoever) coming up the middle. Combine that with Hill, Wright, Haden, Jenkins, Jones, Stamper, Edwards etc next season and our defense will be better next year than it was this season.
Former Hawthorne standout Cornelius Ingram tells middle schoolers he's healthy enough to play in SEC championship game.
Standing in front of a crowded auditorium of middle schoolers from around Alachua County, Florida Gator senior tight end Cornelius Ingram said he is ready to play football again, less than four months after what was thought to be season-ending surgery on his left ACL.
I was making an argument with someone and I discovered something in doing research. Do you know that Tebow's career INT % is 1. He has thrown 9 picks in his 3 year career. This year it is .8 %.
He is on pace to break the all time mark for lowest career INT % set by Billy Volek
Urban's legend growing too big for Florida, NFL awaits Dec. 8, 2008 By Mike Freeman CBSSports.com National Columnist
Is the best college football coach in the country, Florida's Urban Meyer, going to soon make the jump to the NFL?
"It's only a matter of time," said one NFL general manager.
There is increasing speculation among some NFL personnel men that if Meyer wins another title -- and Meyer will because he has built the college football equivalent of the 1990 UNLV basketball team -- he'll be one of the most pursued college coaches in recent memory.
If it already isn't covertly happening now.
If the right job opens up, I think Meyer is gone.
And the right job likely will come along. Very soon.
Several NFL sources said Meyer is among the top choices -- if not the choice -- for several NFL teams that will soon be looking for coaches.
So the choice will come down to lifestyle and adoration (near hero worship) in Gainesville vs. the challenge that is coaching in the big leagues and dealing with a more sophisticated and apathetic fan base.
Meyer of course will say he has no interest in the pros but we've heard coaches make all kinds of promises and guarantees five minutes before breaking them.
See: Saban, Nick.
See: Petrino, Bobby.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Meyer's contract allows him a limited window in which he is allowed contact with other teams. That window is basically now, the newspaper said, until the Gators' bowl game. So that means teams can basically talk to Meyer between now and Jan. 8 (or thereabouts).
From everything I have read/heard/understand, Urban will be a gator coach for about 3 or 4 more years and then I expect him to be a Domer and retire there. I think Urban knows he is a college coach so he will stay there, but his Notre love will push him back there after his kids go to college.
