"I've talked to him many times. I think a lot of people have. ... He knows he's running out of chances," Cutler said. "This wasn't like his DUI and other stuff he's had. It was an accident, but still, things like that can't happen. He knows it.
"But like I told him, I said, 'Brandon, they're going to quit giving you chances and you're going to have to go somewhere else. And that's going to be a shame."
Marshall said last week that he realizes he has to grow up and that his freak injury was a wakeup call.
"His DUI was a wakeup call," Cutler retorted. "He's had many wakeup calls. I mean, he's been in (coach Mike) Shanahan's office many times. I've been up there with him. He said the same thing: 'This is a wakeup call. This is the last thing that's going to happen. Blah blah blah.' I mean, until he goes out and proves it, we'll see what happens."
Hmm, I'm not too sure that publicly ripping your #1 WR in the media because he suffered a freak injury while rough-housing with his brother is the best way to foster teamwork for 2008.
I know that everyone crows about "leadership in the locker room" and its all good etc. However, sometimes being a leader is NOT saying something. And who the heck is Jay Cutler? Isn't he the same guy that Stan Marsh famously said "Hey, aren't you Jay Cutler? My dad said you might ok someday."
The opening scene of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" is loosely based on games of dodgeball Brian Dawkins played in second grade.

You've been invited to one of those coke and sex parties? Lucky bastard....
Thanks to deluxe_247 for sig, he is welcome to sail with the Captain too! I will win all of the fantasy cafe games.....next year
Wow, is this how Cutler thinks a leader on the team should act? I mean what Marshall did was a little reckless but come on freak accidents happen all the time. Football players are human too and are just as capable of slipping on a food wrapper, slamming their hand in a car door or my personal favourite, spilling fondue on themselves. Give your head a shake Cutler.
To be fair, Cutler does go onto say some very positive things about Marshall, so it is not like he is ripping him throughout. And really, I do not see a problem with it. Sounds like more of a culmination of Marshall's past transgressions combined with this minor one that have frustrated Cutler. Marshall is a huge part of that Denver offense and they really cannot afford to lose him for any period of time. I am sure there have plenty of closed door meetings with Marshall, perhaps airing something publicly will get through to him.
Sounds to me like a young QB worried that he will end up losing his best WR if things continue as they have. Something he definitely doesn't want to happen.
Fantasy Football Junkies Anonymous meetings held weekly on Sundays... and Mondays... and sometimes Thursdays.
I'm going to go against the grain here and support what Cutler did. First off, it seems evident from what he said that people have tried to deal with Marshall's many situations privately and it simply hasn't worked. At some point, if Marshall doesn't clean up his act, Cutler is going to lose his best target for next year, and Cutler knows that. As a result, he is calling him out and making Marshall accountable. This may be just what Marshall needs to shape up. Sometimes being a leader means letting someone have it when they screw up, and that's just what Cutler did.

yeah, totally agree. Obviously he knows something we don't. If marshall has been talking to shanahan numerous times, there is something larger going on here.
