Dominic Rhodes departed Oakland saying what we all suspected: Coach Lane Kiffin wasn't thrilled about taking a running back in the first round.

Of course, we figured it out that Kiffin wasn't into taking a running back when he announced he thought Oakland was stacked at running back on two different occasions in April. The Raiders ended up taking Arkansas running back Darren McFadden with the No. 4 even though Oakland has major issues on the defensive line.

LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey would have been a perfect fit in Oakland. Dorsey would have been a natural replacement for the retired Warren Sapp. Yet, when Oakland took McFadden, AFC West rival Kansas City jumped on Dorsey at No. 5.

Rhodes' comments show there is a feeling among players, at least former Oakland players that Kiffin doesn't get what he wants. Rhodes is probably right, and that's no shot at Kiffin. It's just a way of life in Oakland.

Apparrently Kiffin was not to happy with the McFadden Pick!!!!!!!!!!

I really feel for Kiffin. I think he is actually a pretty damn good coach. If he had control of that team, he could start turning it around..but when you have senile old Al Davis calling the shots..the Raiders are going to sit in obscurity for another 10 years.

Training Camp Battles: Rookies, vets expected to go head-to-head

Now that we know who's playing where in the wake of the NFL draft, it's time to start focusing on who's playing where, as in the positional battles to watch once training camps open. Here are 12 depth-chart competitions that I'll be keeping an eye on this summer:

3. Oakland running back, Darren McFadden vs. Justin Fargas and Michael Bush -- The Raiders are already working on the over-crowding at running back, having released Dominic Rhodes just after taking McFadden fourth overall in the draft. Any minute now, LaMont Jordan and his $4.7 million salary in 2008 should be the next to go. That'll leave Fargas and Bush competing with the ex-Razorback.

Fargas posted a surprising 1,000-yard season last year, but now look for him to get no more than 10 carries per game, usually in specialized situations like the two-minute drill or short-yardage or goal-line formations. Bush could prove tougher for McFadden to climb over. He missed his NFL rookie season in the wake of the broken leg he suffered as a Louisville senior, but the Raiders are quite high on him and want to find a role for him this year. It'll still be McFadden's job early, but it won't be a coronation.

Finally healthy, Bush is eager to help Raiders

ALAMEDA -- Pity the defender who crosses paths with Raiders running back Michael Bush for the first time. Bush is a load at 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds, with a ball in his hands and the goal line in his sights.

Throw in the fact that Bush hasn't played in a game for 20 months, his surgically repaired right leg is healed, and he isn't assured any playing time, and you have the recipe for a player in search of someone to take it out on.

"I've been telling people that my season starts the first preseason game," Bush said Saturday, in reference to the Raiders exhibition game against the 49ers on Aug. 8.

As this situation plays out, I am starting to think that Fargas may be the guy to get the raw end of the deal.

I am not sure but fargas's deal was pretty much incentive laiden right???? I mean he could be cut at the end of next yr if they are happy with bush right??
