Considering that KC's in full-on rebuilding mode and that Allen wanted out I think this is a "win-win" deal. Now Minny just has to hope Allen doesn't do anything stupid...like take a charter cruise.

Geez... this is the last time I impulsively clean the house for my roommates when they're out. I approve of any of the deals being thrown out there, but my money is on the 17th and the two 3rd rounders.
This gets the approval of LBC, and, as far as the Vikings should be concerned, that's all that really matters.
I hope Jon Kitna enjoys counting the ceiling tiles at Ford Field. Aaron Kampman, Alex Brown, Adewale Ogunleye, and now Allen. I would call it quits if I were him.

No question it is/was a hig price to pay 1st, 3rd, 3rd, swap 6th AND the huge contract
that being said as a Vikings fan I am happy. I have seen 1st rounders come and do squat lately for the Vikes at DE and at least we know we will have pass rush now (provided he doesn't get hurt/suspended --knock on wood)
The Chiefs also have to feel great. In their minds they ripped off the Vikings, and maybe they did for a guy they were not going to pay

I agree. If I were a Chiefs fan I would be pretty happy. Not that my team traded Allen, but the value we got for a guy who was only going to play one more year with the team, if he was even planning on suiting up in 2008. The Chiefs seem to have finally gone into a full rebuilding mode and have a chance to get off to a great start in the draft. For as sketchy as Peterson's overall drafting history is, he has made some good moves recently with the likes of Bowe, Hali, Johnson, etc.
This could be one of those rare situations where it is a win for both sides. Assuming Allen is healthy and sober he will be the disruptive force on the edge that the Vikings have needed for a long time. Next to the Williams duo he should have plenty of room to run free. I am happy we got this done and did not sign him to an offer sheet after the draft, if the team was planning on doing that. Giving away two future 1st's could have really hurt the franchise, especially if Jackson falters this year and shows that he is not the QB of the future. Not having 1st's extremely diminishes the chances of finding a franchise QB, obviously not all top QB's are found in the 1st, but most are.
The Vikes defense is starting to scare me. With this pick up, I'd say they could very possibly be taken above SD as the first D/ST, and it be a rational choice also...
