Who is the #2 pick in rookie dynasty league drafts this year? You are voting on who will have the best fantasy football production in the NFL over the next 5 or 6 years with the team on which the player was just drafted, NOT who will have the best year in 2008. Also please assume that you have a balanced roster and don't have a great specific need for a QB, WR, etc.
Feel free to discuss the pros and cons of these players - this could be helpful for some and generate some good discussion. If you vote "other" please discuss the player after you vote. (And I'll add him to the next poll if he doesn't win as a write-in)
Maybe a homer pick, but Fast Willie Parker isn't gonna stay fast forever. He turns 28 in November and will eventually start showing wear from being a feature back. In the meantime, Mendenhall could take over Davenpoop's goal line carries. Rashard is young (doesn't turn 21 until June of this year) and the tread on his tires is factory new.
Mendenhall is an elite RB on a run-oriented team that is the Pittsburgh Steelers, and my pick. There's also a really good article supporting this point here.
I voted Mendy #1 so obviously I am going to go with him here. I think he is a complete back he is going to a fantastic organization. Parker's presence tempers early enthusiasm but in the long-term he is the back of choice for me. My actual #2 would be McFadden, but for the purpose of this silly democracy idea, I have to go Mendenhall again here.
This is my main question too, having the #2 pick in my dynasty league. I was hoping that Mendenhall would go to a team where he would start and be the feature back. Seems like all of the teams are going to a 2 back system.
I'm trying to decide between Mendenhall and Stewart. I think that Stewart will be better in fantasy leagues this year, but for a dynasty league, who is better. My league only starts one RB, and I have plenty of depth....I'm trying to choose for the long term.
16 team dynasty league (keep everyone / contract league) Everyone in the league is required to own 2 Off / 2 Def teams.
with only 3 drop /adds per year, lots of trading
We start 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE (OR 2 WR / 2 TE) 1 K, 1 Offensive team, 1 Defensive team.
MY ROSTER: 1.2 and 2.8 rookie draft picks
QB: Tony Romo, Kellen Clemens, Brodie Croyle, Damon Huard
RB: Brian Westbrook, Ronnie Brown, Laurence Maroney, Michael Turner
WR: Andre Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Calvin Johnson, Bryant Johnson,Demetrius Williams, Ben Obomanu
I like Stewart better than McFaddy so of course I select Stew number tew. I like the situation in Carolina, he should fit right in. The starting RB job is up for grabs right from the start as Williams has proven incapable of being a feature back. Stew could get off to a fast start and never look back.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

I think that this year, Stewart has a better chance of producing, but I wouldn't b surprised to see Mendenhall as the featured back in Pittsburgh within the next 2-3 years and I think when that happens that he will be better off than Stewart.
So since we are looking at long term, I will have to say Mendenhall.
