Winslow absent from Browns indoor practice UPDATE: 6:15 PM, Wednesday, May 14, 2008 BY Steve Doerschuk
BEREA The Browns seem to have the tools for an amazing offense.
"We really do," said quarterback Brady Quinn, who had just finished a spring practice pushed indoors by today's rain.
But one of the hammers was missing today. Tight end Kellen Winslow Jr., who wants a new contract, was the only big name not at least in the team complex, other than linebacker D'Qwell Jackson, who is expected to check in soon.

The Browns are in no hurry to sign tight end Kellen Winslow to the big new contract he's seeking.
"We don't have a lot of wiggle room right now at this particular time," Browns General Manager Phil Savage said Tuesday night at a Winner's Influence Conference at the Ohio Theater. "Only time will tell if it goes one direction or the other, but I think we've let it be known kind of where we are."
Savage said he expects Winslow to show up for minicamp next Tuesday through Thursday. "Of course, it's a mandatory camp, so the expectation is he'll be here."
Winslow has been absent from the four weeks of organized team activities, but his agent Drew Rosenhaus said last week on YouTube his client only stayed away because he was rehabbing his scoped right knee at home in San Diego.
Hehehe...since he isn't the highest paid TE anymore, he wants more money. I don't blame him, I would definitely ride the Browns surprising 07 season as much as possible.
The guy took a pay cut when he wasn't producing and was being reckless outside of football, causing injuries but now that he's responsible and producing, the Browns should pay and reward him after last seasons tremendous effort.

Or at least come into camp and show us that the knee is recovering correctly before demanding cash. The Browns are in a bit of a bind here. If they cannot come up with a satisfactory deal do they risk alienating one of the top offensive threats heading into a season of real expectations.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

As a fan I figure that I just gotta hold my breath and hope that Savage & Co. know what they're doing. They've earned that.
He's an elite TE right now, but how long will that last on those knees? Were it not for one numbskull on a bike and a freak TC injury the Browns would be even better than they are now....
Sorry, LeCharles Bentley Moment.
