Ronnie and Ricky to share?

Postby JasonSeahorn » Fri May 16, 2008 4:44 pm

Via Rotoworld:
Ricky Williams showed up to offseason workouts in "tip-top shape" and indicated he thinks the Dolphins will use a committee at running back this season.
Williams says he turned down Cedric Benson's invitation to join him for a recent Lake Travis boating trip. Smart move. In their first meeting, Ricky says Bill Parcells told him he'll share carries with Ronnie Brown this year. Parcells and coach Tony Sparano have long been fans of running back committees. Well we know Parcells loved the committee in Dallas. Ronnie's injury recovery could also push Parcells to favor a RBBC. Ronnie, in my eyes, will have better stats in the end, but the question is will it be enough to warrant him to be an every week starting RB2 or to be a reserve RB3.

I can't see Ricky being more than a RB3 this year. I don't know how Ronnies progressed with his injury but when he gets back up to speed I assume he'll get 70-80% of the carries if not more. Besides Ricky's had his own injury issues, if I remember correctly Ricky played all but 3 snaps last year before getting reinjured.

Ricky and Ronnie back on field together

DAVIE — The Dolphins were grateful for some much needed R&R on Wednesday.

Ricky and Ronnie - together again.

Running backs Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown shared time during a voluntary workout, each trying to return to form after injury-shortened seasons.

Until the three-day practice session that ended Wednesday, Brown had not been on the field since Oct. 21, when he tore a ligament in his right knee while playing New England. Entering that game, he was the NFL rushing leader.

Ah, but how did he look in those 6 plays!?! :-b
I think Ricky Rastah is probably no more that a bit player at this point in his career. Though should he really be in great football shape he could be worth a taking a flier on.

Is there any more damning statement that could be made about Benson than that he invited Ricky on a boat trip? :-°

I expect Ronnie Brown to be a worthy RB2. In his 7 games he was just out of the 25 top running backs. His PPG was about third in the league. He was also 14th in receptions among RB's in those 7 games. I expect him to be a mid-2nd to high second round worthy pick when its all said and done and even more than that in a PPR. I have zero faith in Williams playing more than 1 game in the NFL this season. He'll find a way. I would take a flyer on him in maybe the 10th or 11th round of a draft after my second QB but before my DST and K.
