...but seriously with all the complaints about '08 they had better come through on this one.

From the video clips I watched, I never even heard Madden's voice. I guess Cris Collinsworth's doing the commentary on this one... which frankly isn't much better.

Online leagues are a huge deal, and it's about time.

They'd better fix the dang gameplay though. I was the biggest Madden fanboy you could find for 10 years, but after selling the last two within a week of buying them I was all set to skip it this year. Online leagues will probably make me give it another shot, but I'm not expecting to like it.

Don't expect too much outta the leagues. It's a good idea , but they will fall short in many different areas. I'm in a long-term die hard online league for Madden (over 14 seasons now...) and we have some connections so I'll expand on this once I get some sleep!

My two biggest complaints about what I've read on 09's online leagues are that 1) you can't do franchise, you can only do a single season at a time and 2) no CPU controlled teams are allowed.

So suppose you have 5 really close friends that want to do an online league but you don't want to include anyone else, but you DO want to have a 32 team league. You don't have the option of letting the CPU control the remaining teams. You're either going to have to find a lot more people to fill those teams, or you're going to have to shrink your league down to make it include less teams altogether.
