Temp was only about 93 when I got home (fairly early) from work. And the heat index only 97 so it was feeling sub-tropical for once. I decided to mow the front lawn. Queue pouring sweat. Then decided that with all the heat and AC lately summer was passing me by, so I went for a bike ride. I looked like a snowman in the oven. I drank aound 90 ounces of water through the day today and I bet I just lost half of them.

felt good though :-)

It has been crazy hot this summer, with an unusually long unbroken high-humidity period. We've had extended high temps throughout July which, combined with the humidity, have given us heat indexes between the 100-115 degree range for the better part of the last three weeks. It's been pretty brutal, and outdoor activity has dwindled to a minimum as a result.

Luckily for us, at least, we're due for some rain and lower temps in the next several days. The 10-day forecast looks like early June more than early August. We need the break. Gardens and lawns are dying, and I'm sick of melting into a puddle whenever I step outside.

A round of storms moved through central Indiana early evening last night and turned deadly.

It was a video of the stage collapse from the wind as mentioned in the post above it.

Everybody on the east coast - stay safe. Move inland if you're near the shore. Don't fool around with this thing.

I am in Jacksonville NC, which is about 30 miles south of where the eye is going to pass through. Should be an interesting storm to say least. Moving inland is not an option. We just have to hope for the best. ;-D

67 degrees on Leap Day! Feels good in the sun. I'm in the park catching some rays B-)

I guess it was less nice over night in some parts of the Midwest.

It wasn't as bad as predicted for us. It was slushy this morning, but the kids school was canceled so they were pretty happy - not a bad ride into work for me. Suppose to get close to 50 by the end of the week ;-D
