PS3 or Xbox 360?

Postby The River » Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:29 pm

Hey everyone. I am currently an owner of a 60GB PS3 and have always been a Playstation console fan since PS1. My question, to you is, which do you think is a better platform for NCAA series, and even possibly Madden along with all other games in the Sports genre.

I'm contemplating selling my PS3 and all its stuff for a 360...I just feel like so many more people (even on this board) and in college (360 would be my partial graduation present too btw) will play more 360 than PS3.

Thoughts?

Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

XBox 360 has a faster framerate than the PS3 for most sports games (Madden for sure) so the 360 is better. The difference is pretty minimal however.

Depends if you want to drop a chunk of change just so you can get the more popular console. In terms of gameplay they're both the same, at least to me.

If you already have a PS3 just keep it. The 360 has alot of hardware issues that the PS3 doesn't have. Some 360 owners have had to ship their console off so many times for repair that they're on like their 5th and 6th consoles. Not a headache worth having if you already have a PS3. Yes, Xbox Live is cool, but you're also going to pay for it every single month. PS3 doesn't have that issue, and in time could match Xbox Live in coolness factor.

Xbox Live is well worth the money Bago. It's less laggy and has more people online. It also provides more features.

If you're worried about online game play you need to get a 360.

True, I"m just saying, if he already has a PS3 then I don't see the point. Knowing your console's going to run like it's supposed to and not having to worry about RROD and all the other crap is a greater benefit than Xbox Live IMHO, especially considering Xbox Live costs $. Just my two cents.

He could buy an elite, they almost never get a RROD. Neither do the newer systems. I agree though Bago, if he has a PS3 already it isn't worth the trouble. They're both awesome. ;-D

It depends on how much online play matters to you.

I actually prefer the PS3's controller to the 360's for sports games (and fighting games, everything else I like the 360's way better), but if you play online a lot then Live will make you wonder how you ever lived without it.

360

Pros
Easy online interface
Wide selection of arcade games, add-ons, etc. in the XBL marketplace
More games available on it than the PS3
Most of your friends probably have one, so you can swap games with them occasionally
Control is about the perfect size and feel
Cheaper

Cons
Has a very high failure rate (red rings of death)
Sounds about as loud as 3 lawnmowers
Games are usually available for both 360 and PC

PS3

Pros
Free online
Blu-ray movies
Very low failure rate
The exclusive games are for PS3 only
Free wifi (which is an added $100 on 360 which makes it already more expensive than a PS3)

Cons
Not too many games are currently out for it
May not be worth it without an HDTV
---------------------------

I made that a while back for one of my friends. Umm, imo PS3 is MUCH better. If you already have a good PC, don't bother with a 360, because all of the exclusive titles come out for PC as well (Mass Effect, Gears of War, and Halo 1 and 2).
