Two of five feet from the same man; one foot from a woman DNA reveals secrets about mystery feet found on B.C. shores in the past year Chad Skelton and David Hogben, Vancouver Sun Published: Thursday, July 10, 2008
VANCOUVER - Two of the five feet that have mysteriously washed ashore in southwest B.C. over the past year are from the same man, DNA testing has revealed.
Investigators have also determined that one of the five feet is from a woman.
BC Coroners Service spokesman Jeff Dolan said a right foot found on Valdez Island on Feb. 2, 2008 and a left foot found on Westham Island on June 16, 2008 have been matched through DNA testing.
Police also said that DNA testing has determined that a foot found on Kirkland Island on May 22, 2008 belongs to a woman
RCMP spokeswoman Const. Annie Linteau said police have been going through lists of hundreds of missing people trying to find a match.
Based on several factors, said Linteau, police identified 243 missing males who could be linked to the feet.
