Which WR are you building around?

Postby WeekSixteen » Sun Jul 13, 2008 4:08 pm

In my overview of the Fantasy landscape this year, I'm getting the impression that no one is arguing Moss is #1, but I've seen very little interest in anyone trading or acquiring Moss. It seems like not a lot of people are sold on him or have that "good" feeling about Moss that you might get from say a Reggie Wayne.

In partial keepers or dynasties that you are starting this year, which WR are you targeting or do you wish you could build around for the next couple years?

I've kept Braylon Edwards this year and plan to build around him until I can no longer keep him.

I got Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson in my dynasty league... kind of building around my receivers as it's a PPR league.

Megatron/Braylon/Boldin and Megatron/Colston/Plax in my 2 dynasty leagues.

I see Megatron as the essential "Build Around WR" he is young, talented, has size, skills, and speed.

Megatron is Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions, given that nickname I believe by Roy Williams, his teammate.

I think it is due to Moss's age. He may have 2 more great seasons, but I don't want to give up Andre Johnson for him.

In my keeper league I have 3 elite receivers: Chad, Steve Smith, and Roy Williams.

On my bench I have Dwayne Bowe who I think will be solid in a few years.

I really like the talent of Roy Williams though and hope he can get the hell out of Detroit next season. If this guy ends up with a good QB throwing to him then he will be an elite receiver. I'd love to see him end up in Dallas...but that is a conversation for another day.

I'm pretty much built at the WR position in my keeper. It is a luxury that allows me to keep all of my young players on the bench and see if they pan out.

Even in a ppr lg, i would rather build around a solid recieving rb than a top tier wr. I would draft say Brian Westbrook or even SJAX before taking Moss or Wayne or CJ3. I like Calvin in a ppr though. I might take him as a wr1 AFTER solidifying my rb's.

Err I also have Reggie Bush if it makes you feel better... Just cause you have strong receivers doesn't mean the rest of your team has to be bad.... I just don't have what you call an 'elite' back.

I agree, I'm in the thought process that I need an elite rb or atleast a top tier receiving rb in a ppr, with as scarce as they are now, I feel they're more important than the elite receivers. That being said, in my keeper league I have Wayne/Cotchery to build around, but still have an elite rb IMO, Gore should be huge in ppr leagues this year.
