I was on the phone and wasn't paying attention. I loaded up the dishwasher and dumped a few ounces of dish detergent into the dishwasher instead of dishwashing fluid. Suds everywhere. The only thing I can do is sop it up and let the cycle go through. Geez, what a great way to spend a couple hours on my day off. How could I make that mistake.
I did that once. Unfortunately for me, I didn't come back to check on the dishwasher until the cycle finished, and found the kitchen all sudsy all the way up to the counter. My roommates and I ended up chucking the suds off the balcony, 10 floors up.
Here's the winning story for the ALMOST TRAGIC kitchen accident catagory...
We were all loaded up to go on a week vacation. I went back inside to get something out of the fridge (upstairs). As I was standing in the kitchen, I suddenly heard this pressured water spraying. The water input to the back of the fridge came unhooked and... well, let's just say, imagine the mess after a week of that.
Yo, Met... thanks for the sig! GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a guy I went to high school with who put dish soap in the dishwasher. Only problem was he did it intentionally thinking it would be fine. Let's just say that there was some pretty major water carpet damage from that one. What's worse, is he's the same guy who was playing with the turn knob timer on the microwave and thinks it would be funny to turn it to 30 minutes for some reason. Well, as you probably know, they start automatically. Somebody heard it popping and crackling and came in there, but it was too late. It snapped the glass plate inside in three pieces and actually started to melt the glass. A miracle there wasn't a fire over the whole thing.
