WHAT'S NEW
Eli Manning silenced almost all the naysayers in '07.
He won three playoff games on the road. He defeated the only 18-0 team in NFL history. He matched big brother Peyton's Super Bowl ring total. That's enough to keep Giants' fans and the press off his back, but notice I said almost all the naysayers.
Fantasy owners shun Manning because of his inconsistency. They have a beef - Manning's improbable run didn't happen during the fantasy season. After all, Manning threw 20 INTS and had seven games with less than 200 passing yards in '07. So is Manning a fluke, or should you find him on draft day?
Manning is a great pick for owners who take the old-fashioned route and wait on a quarterback. The playoff run (213.5 ypg., 6 TDs, 1 INT) proves he can play. Look for Manning to harness that momentum and carry the Giants (and fantasy owners) back into the playoffs.
Aside from the pre-requisite amount of the daily tabloid fodder (Plaxico Burress' contract, Michael Strahan's retirement, Jeremy Shockey's status), everything else is well in New York.
All is well with Manning, too. Give little brother his due in '08.
