Cowboys: If it ain't broke, don't fix it
July 13, 2008
WHAT'S NEW
You know the saying -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That was essentially the Cowboys' approach to the offseason after going 13-3 last year.
Aside from losing running back Julius Jones to free agency, the Cowboys return all of the main pieces of an offense that was second in the league with 28.4 points per game in '07. That means Dallas will be chock full of elite fantasy options once again.
QB Tony Romo, WR Terrell Owens and RB Marion Barber should all be gone by the end of the second round in most fantasy drafts and TE Jason Witten, K Nick Folk and the Cowboys D/ST are all ranked in the top five at their respective positions. The Cowboys even offer top options for IDP leaguers in LB DeMarcus Ware, CB Roy Williams and potentially CB Adam Jones.
These guys won't come cheap, though, so be prepared to pay top dollar in your auction leagues or jump on them in the early rounds of drafts. When the fantasy points start rolling in, you'll be glad you did.
