bumping an old thread to discuss one of my favorite topics.. BEER!

I was wandering innocently through the grocery after work and wasn't even planning on buying any beer. Out of habit I turned down the beer aisle anyway. I spied Sam Adams Imperial Stout and Imperial White and decided to give a try. Trying the Imperial White first. Now, if you don't like witbier to begin with, you'll hate this. But if you do, it's a must-try. I chilled it down to almost refridgerator level, no where near what I'd drink a pilsner at, and poured into a Guiness glass. It's dam good stuff. Strong, too, at 10.3%. $9.99 for a 4-pack. Next time I get the hankerin' for a glass of premium brew I'm gunna try the stout.

How in the world have I missed this thread for so long? :-D

Most of the beers I have in the PNW are local microbrews from either Western Washington or the Portland area as I'm a huge IPA fan, but I'll also do authentic German beers and enjoy Belgians from time to time. (As a complete side note, is anyone planning on going to Oktoberfest in September? It's the 200 year anniversary in 2010!)

My current favs are:
- Ninkasi's Tricerahops (a favorite since this summer)
- Diamond Knot IPA (a favorite for the last two years)
- Georgetown Brewing's Manny's Pale Ale (this has been a favorite for 3 years)
- Rogue's Dead Man IPA (a favorite for a year)

If you enjoy IPA and have the ability, I highly recommend these. ;-D

I do like IPA's. I don't know any of those first hand, but one of my local beer sellers has a pretty impressive inventory so I will make note of those brands before my next visit and hopefully find some.

The Tricerahops name is awesome.

I'm guessing you aren't going to be able to find the Manny's or the Diamond Knot, but the Ninkasi and Rogue you might be able to. If they don't have that specific beer but have something else, try it. Both of those breweries are quality and haven't let me down yet (with the exception of a "smoke" beer I had at the Rogue brewery last year--still good but more of a novelty and I couldn't have drank more than one of those).

And yes, Tricerahops is an awesome name. :-D

Damn, that's the *third* time I've done that in the past two weeks. I've had two bartenders give me the look like I just ordered an appletini and that they need to card me because of it.
