hello All! i am joing a brand new dynasty league...i have never done one before and i am wondering if this type of scoring is normal it just seems very weird to me...please give me some imput if this is normal scoring....i am now unsure if i should join....

18 Players drafted by each team. Cut down to 16 once the final preseason game is played.

1qb 2 wr 2 rb 1te 1k 1def



No flex
no automatic 6 pts either, 20 yd TD=2 pts
scoring system is very low (resemble real scores)


Transactions:
• Lineup deadline is 5 minutes before gametime for each player.
• Owners may set lineups.
• Transactions will lock five minutes before the first game on Sunday. Players whose teams play before Sunday will be locked for the remainder of the scoring period.
• Add/drops must be approved by the commissioner.
• Owners may do trades.
• No trades can be made after the trade deadline of 11:59 PM ET 11/30/08.

• Owners may make trades during the offseason.

Schedule: Playoffs start in Week 15 and last for 3 Weeks.


Add Fee: $3.00
Scoring: Head-to-Head, Points Based System.
Scoring based on total stats each period.
Ties in the standings are resolved in this order: .

Scoring for Offensive Categories
FG - Field Goals 2 points
Plus 1 point for a FG of 40 to 49 Yds
Plus 2 points for a FG of 50+ Yds

FL - Fumble Lost, Including ST plays -1 point

MFG - Missed Field Goal -1 point
MXP - Missed Extra Point -1 point

Pa2P - Passing Two-point Conversion 1 point

PaCmp - Passing Completion 20 - 27 PaCmps = 1 point
28 - 35 PaCmps = 2 points
36 - 43 PaCmps = 3 points
44+ PaCmps = 4 points

PaInt - Passing Interception -1 point

PaTD - Passing TD 2 points
Plus 1 point for a PaTD of 20 to 39 Yds
Plus 2 points for a PaTD of 40 to 79 Yds
Plus 3 points for a PaTD of 80+ Yds

PaYd - Passing Yards 200 - 249 PaYds = 1 point
250 - 299 PaYds = 2 points
300 - 349 PaYds = 3 points
350 - 399 PaYds = 4 points
400 - 449 PaYds = 5 points
450 - 499 PaYds = 6 points
500+ PaYds = 7 points

Re2P - Receiving Two-point Conversion 1 point

ReTD - Receiving TD 2 points
Plus 1 point for a ReTD of 20 to 39 Yds
Plus 2 points for a ReTD of 40 to 79 Yds
Plus 3 points for a ReTD of 80+ Yds

ReYd - Receiving Yards 50 - 74 ReYds = 1 point
75 - 99 ReYds = 2 points
100 - 124 ReYds = 3 points
125 - 149 ReYds = 4 points

28 - 35 PA = 1 point
36+ PAs = 0 points

PRYd - Punt Return Yards (ID/ST/DST) 10 - 19 PRYds = 1 point

Personally I would not join, there are a number of things that bug me about the set-up:
- 16 player roster for a dynasty league is very small, too small
- 20yd TD 2 pts, I guess it would be interesting to try, but I don't think I would like it
- Add/drops must be approved by the commissioner - WHY? :-?
- yardage/performance bonuses not being fractions is horrible

and the number 1 reason I would never join the league....
- Playoffs start in Week 15 and last for 3 Weeks - so you play your Championship in week 17 :-t :-t :-t

I agree, Its like someone decided that they wanted the oddest possible scoring rules. Hell, if your starting WR goes for 4 catches and 45 yards (something even the best ones do occasionally) you get 0 points.

I don't mind long play bonuses (especially for ST/Def or for Kickers) but that league really rewards randomness (40 yard td worth double a 10 yard?) and seems impossible to really plan.

And yeah, the bench is too short for my liking, especially for dynasty, since there is no room for speculative picks. Hell, my league is 20 with a 4 man taxi and I think its too shallow.

Because there is a player add fee.

I personally would not join either, but that is simply by preference. There have been many unique leagues that I have played in before and loved it after thinking that I would hate it.

just bc there is an add fee doesnt mean he should have the power to approve adds. it just means he has to be able to know how many each guy did at teh end of teh season and multiple it by $3. im assuming it doesnt really mean approve adds, it just needs to be rewritten. but if it does mean approve adds then wow....talk about a power trip. 'nope sorry dude, you already have a good team, you cant make it better. but good idea, i think ill add that guy....thanks'
