I say whine like a little girl and look into getting some worker's comp. Milk it for all its worth.
There was a fair-sized hole in my ear before it kinda came back together, it's hard to explain, it's almost exactly where they pierce ears but after it scabbed over there was no more hole.

They close rather quickly. I once pierced my ear on the High School bus ride home and by the time I got home all the pain I endured was for nothing because it was gone.

Thats what moon and I were talking about when we were saying "gauge." I have some friends with some HUGE holes in their ears...not for me though, I'll stick with my 10 gauge hoops.
IF it makes u feel any better I once pierced my nose with a fish hook. Rather, a kid that was fishing threw his reel back and I happened to be walking behind him and his hook went right through my nose. Lucky for me he didn't cast it, or he would have taken my nose off.

I once had a fish hook go into my hand when I worked on offshore fishing boats. Gotta push the hook the rest of the way through since the barb won't allow pulling it back out. Got a HUGE tip from those particular charter folks. Pain builds character, right?
