LOS ANGELES - A strong earthquake shook Southern California on Tuesday, causing buildings to sway and triggering some precautionary evacuations. No immediate damage was reported.
con't...
Going to Los Angeles on Friday for vacation too. Hopefully the tectonic plates will be still by then.
It wasn't that bad guys. They actually downgraded the original estimates from a 5.8 to a 5.4. My condo started to shake a bit and it lasted a few seconds (long enough to make me get up and stand in the doorway, which is unusual for my lazy @$$), but it was far from anything serious. There was only one real aftershock that you could feel also, and it happened right after the quake. Like you guys said, no injuries or damage reported as of yet, so that's good. Par for the course in L.A unfortunately...
On a side note, it's always fun to watch how the tourists react to earthquakes here. I remember when I was living in the dorms at UCLA a few years ago, and we had a pretty sizable quake one night. All the kids from the mid-west were running around freaking out, exaggerating how big the quake was, scared to death of aftershocks. The rest of us didn't even get outta bed. The dorm shook, we woke up, told the noobs that it was alright, and went back to sleep. Good times...
So come on down Eagles, the weather's fine and the place will still be standing when you get here. I promise...
