Steve Smith knock-out in camp

Postby moochman » Fri Aug 01, 2008 12:28 pm

According to AP, Carolina WR Steve Smith has once again decked a teammate. You are forewarned if you chose to do a Joe vs Pro with this angry fella.

Carolina Panthers cornerback Ken Lucas was carted off the field with an ice pack above his left eye Friday after a fight with teammate Steve Smith.

The melee came while most starters were on the sidelines during a special teams drill at training camp. It was unclear what provoked the fight. Several players and coach John Fox rushed to both players. Fox tried to separate the two, but it took linebacker Jon Beason to pull Smith off Lucas.

Smith was kicked out of practice and spent several minutes talking to kicker John Kasay on an adjacent field. He later walked into the locker room while practice continued.

Fox said it hasn't been determined if Smith will be suspended

Looks like Smith is ready for exhibition season to begin.

Steve Smith is Likes-To-Fight-Guy...this is the second time he's laid out a teammate (the other guy was some nobody a few years ago, but IIRC he messed him up pretty bad)

Last time it was a practice squad player named Anthony Bright. Tussled with him in the film room, sent him to the hospital, spent some time in jail and then faced assault charges which I believe were dropped. He's stepping up his target this time in going after Lucas. Do not cross Steve Smith. O:-)

It's this attitude that helps Steve Smith be such a great player, he knows he is physically smaller than a lot of defensive players and he is still not scared to go all out on the field.
