I really don't care what kind of car I have as long as it has leather interior. Bassett Hound fur is not fun with cloth interior.
My Eastern European neighbor patched it up for free. Wife drove it home. Spoke with the guy over the phone, but I think I'll talk to him in person. I cannot understand the guy for the life of me. Pretty sure he said head casket, which sucks but my father-in-law works for a part place so I should be able to keep the bill under $600.
Just put new tires on the old girl and, yes, I put a new alternator on it in the last year. Dang you Treat. I think I'll keep the old girl, than again, I might not have heard the crazy Russian correctly.

That's what the guy on the Greyhound bus needs... you need a head gasket.
It's just a seal (or is it a sea lion?) between the metal header and the engine block. Not a technical job, but labor intensive, from what I understand, since the top of the engine needs to come off to replace the gasket and lube it properly to get a good seal. (and we all know walruses and tuperware love a good seal)

I can't believe I typed "casket", that's funny stuff.

Labor intensive it is. I helped my dad change one a long time ago. Aluminum head gaskets are usually the ones that have more problems. I don't think the Olds has an aluminum one though, so I'm going to wait to get home and learn how to understand Russian.
I actually typed casket instead of gasket again. Had to edit. I think I might have brain problem.

Yeah I think that's due to aluminium being more temperature sensitive.
If you're going to keep the car, may want to look in to what else can be done when the header is removed. I think that's also required when replacing the rings and some other stuff. If they're already cracking the block open, may as well look at the rings/valves, etc. I'm not a mechanic, so I'm just tossing ideas out, since you're already going to be elbow-deep in metal and grease. $$ is the thing there, though. Engine work is never cheap.

Sure hope it's not a copper head, I'll have to go to some old crack house and steal it.
