Mayhem Festival

so i am going to Mayhem tomorrow (bands below). My friends wife really likes Disturbed (i just like going to concerts, but i like them too) but other than Disturbed and Slipknot i dont really know any of the other bands (i pretty much gave up on the heavy music a few years ago...i just feel too "old" for it)

anyway, just wondering if anyone else has been this year (or plans on going) or has any feedback about the bands (I know TTFAF by Dragonforce from GH:III)

we'll likely miss the 1st few bands because we will get there a few hours late and then probably split a case of beer or two between the 4 of us (and maybe some whisky) before heading in so we dont have to pay $8 for beer for 8 hours

I have not heard of a single band on that line up other than the two you mentioned, and the two you mentioned I do not care for at all. Like you I gave up on metal a long time ago, not really sure I'd classify Disturbed and Slipknot as metal anyway....maybe Slipknot but not Disturbed. I dunno, I guess my dislike of anything thats classified metal these days has me jaded.

i was mainly just trying to generate some discussion since GT is so dead these days. as long as i have a beer in my hand i'm sure i'll be entertained...plus i bet i'll get to see some real sluts there

Can't tell you much about most of those bands. Blacktide is decent, and I absolutely hate Five Finger Death Punch. Something about the dude's voice just irks me to the core. I'd probably follow along with your original plan and get drunk before the show and then check out Disturbed and Slipknot, as those are the only two bands I would really make any effort to see.

out of 30,000 people (or whatever that thing draws) there's gotta be at least 10 inked up sluts, hopefully one wearing a fishnet top, dog collar, WAY too much eye makeup and ratty hair...plus there will probably be the random normal hot chick who's meathead boyfriend drug her to this.

unfortuantely there will likely be some sweaty goth hogs trying to dress like they are hot/not 300 lbs
