I would think a top-tier TE would out-perform a WR3 in a PPR league.
Not only that, but there is arguably a larger WR3 pool than top-tier TEs.
14 Team w/FLX .5PPR The Porkchop Express QB: Carson Palmer, Vince Young RB: Maurice Jones-Drew, Matt Forte, Reggie Bush, Tim Hightower WR: Greg Jennings, Anquan Boldin, Terrell Owens, Jabar Gaffney TE: John Carlson, Ben Watson PK: R Gould TD: NO, TB
Last year 4 TEs-Witten, Gonzo, Gates, and Winslow, were amoungst the top 22 in receiver scoring for PPR. Witten and Gonzo were 12 & 13 while Gates and Gonzo were 21 & 22. Set your draft board accordingly.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

If you don't get one of the elite TE then keep an eye on Zach Miller. The sample size is small but at the end of last season Jamarcus Russell was looking his way a lot, and inexperienced QBs often rely on checkdown passes, so Miller is in a good spot to see many receptions.

Though I do think the sample size is too small to rely on (didn't Eric Johnson catch 7 passes in game 1 last year). I think Miller is a decent backup TE. I wouldn't rely on him as a starter though Tony Scheffler is a good later round pick up as well.

Yeah Miller and Russell didn't have much time to play together last year...Miller saw 8 looks (3 receptions) and 9 looks (8 receptions) so I think he'll be a nice late TE for a PPR league. I agree Scheffler will be better, but a good number of people know about Scheffler and are drafting him while Miller seems to be slipping by everyone. In regular league's I'm not so sure about Miller, but in PPR I think he will be of value.

Yeah, just like Mooch said. Our draft right now in the "King Of The Jungle" league has been crazy for me. 14 teams, PPR, and I made an effort to work on a solid RB core. While that was happening everyone else was scooping up the great receivers. So, before any receivers I took A.Gates. And now in our 7th round I recently took Crumpler. With S.Moss being my only WR taken so far in the 6th. I felt it was good strategy considering how things have panned out. At least if my TE's don't give me the great reception #'s, they should be great TD producers. Along with decent RB's. So, in the end it might be good strategy after all. Only time will tell.
