WHAT'S NEW
Really, there's nothing much. The Chargers had a very quiet offseason other than letting a few free agents go, and still have their super-talented nucleus in place. They remain a favorite for both the AFC title and the Super Bowl, and will produce like it.
The biggest news out of San Diego during the summer were the medical reports on their two elite offensive skill players, LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates. Tomlinson, 29, should be ready to bounce back from the knee injury (torn MCL), while Gates (foot surgery) put the Chargers a little more at ease by looking good in his first preseason action against the Rams on Saturday.
