No, I would not say the same in Madison's scenario. Simply because men and women are not equal ( ). We look at things differently and do things for different reasons. We can't go off of the book with every single case expecting complete fairness all the time. I think the judge made the correct judgement under these unfortunate circumstances.

The mother is a sexual predator (by law!) and is facing 18 months in jail (who's going to care for the kid while she serves and is gone for a year and a half?). Her having custody is in the best interest of the child? I highly disagree with that and don't see how anyone can think that's a good decision.

Do you really consider her a sexual predator? Forget the law, let's use some logic. To put her in the same sentence with pedophiles and rapists is just not reasonable. Look at the age difference. 3 years. You really believe she should be considered a sexual predator and perceived to be a threat to society because she had sex with someone only 3 years her junior? Come on. I don't know if it's in the best interest of this child to be brought up by this woman or not. I don't know her. I don't know that in 2 years these two get married. That would be ideal obviously. It's an unfortunate situation for everyone involved, but suggesting that she be regarded in the same way as the monsters that rape little kids is just, I'm sorry, ridiculous.

Getting married is the last thing that needs to happen. This was a relationship based off of lust. Most 16 year olds(19 year old for that matter)do not know what love is. The best thing would be adoption for some good family that has been desperately trying to have a child, but could not.
Because the State got involved: Both the 16 and 19 year old do not deserve this child and that should be punishment enough. They should never have the ability to find this child later in life. That would be a pretty harsh punishment for a lot of people to swallow.
Now I do realize that it's only 3 years difference, but it is obvious that a certain parent did not like what was happening and filed the charges and the state had to step in. Now the State steps in and sets a bad precedent when I know some guy will try to get away with this when the roles are reversed the way Madison described it.
Frankly I wished it never would have made it to the State level and things could have moved along like most dysfunctional families and not cost the tax payers any more money in the courts. Of course social services would more than make up for that tax payer money.
Ah forget it, it's the USA, bring on a Dictatorship and end all this debate.

Doesn't matter what my personal feelings are, by law she is a sexual predator.
4 years. He was 15, she was 19 when this happened. Big difference in maturity levels between those 2 ages.
Personally I find her incredibly stupid and too incompetent to raise a child, but by law, she should not have custody of an infant, so my opinion on her is moot.
And yes, you know if she's gone for 18 months, that kinda makes her a bad mother (or at least unfit to be a mother since it would be impossible for her to be a mother), doesn't it?
So yeah, the kid should be put up for adoption, or awarded to the father's parents (they are trying to get custody). The last place on this Earth that the infant should be is with the mother.

I got some that are too politically incorrect for almost any website. Most are only for those with as sick a sense a of humor as I have.
You could think of government workers like teenagers. You pay them an allowance, but do you get any work out them? They eat the food, put their feet on the furniture and complain loudly whenever they are unhappy.
