This year, with the ad campaigns, is the first I've heard of it.

It's a bank account, essentially, with no interest. The only thing I'd be cautious about is "what bank" it's with. Great economy for playing with small no name banks.

Interestingly enough, I just heard a commercial on 670 the Score (Chicago) and Paul Churchian was pimping "his new site" called league safe...hmm.

Why would anyone use that? We play in a fairly large money league ($320) entry fee and our commissioner has a bank account that he just puts the money into. We've had same commissioner for years and never a problem. Don't see the advantage of paying someone else to hold it for you.

Others have had issues with there league.

Some people like the idea of depositing your money directly. Also you can have your winnings sent to you and mailed the day after your finals.

Also your not paying anyone , it's free.

Wow, I came up with this idea last year and thought about implementing something similar.

The idea is awesome when you're dealing with commissioners you don't know or trust as the interactions can happen directly between you and the "bank" (I called it an escrow account in my mock-up). The "bank" just simply puts the funds into a 3 month CD or something that is interest bearing and makes money on the interest.

It's a smart idea (that's why I came up with it ) but the trick is getting people to actually use it. The idea is best to create and show as a proof of concept and then sell to someone like Yahoo for a tidy profit.
