Whisenhunt's got full faith in his abilities or he wouldn't be feeding him the rock that often. Not to mention the Cardinals made virtually no offseason efforts to bring someone in to challenge Edge or take over his job. Felix Jones, Reshard Mendenhall and Chris Johnson were all on the board when the Cardinals picked in the draft, and they passed on them all because they still have faith that Edge has something left to give. Sure, Hightower may steal some goal line snaps, but it's not because Edgerrin is washed up.

Exactly, I don't get why so many people put him down. Most people drafted him as their RB3 yet he consistently puts up RB2 stats, sometimes RB1 stats with a good match up. I gladly took him in the fifth round.

Remember a few years ago when every year people predicted the end of Curtis Martin, watching his ypc go down every year - that Lamont Jordan would take over, but Martin kept proving people wrong. That went on for a few years until people were finally correct in 2005.

Thank you, These days everyone is so quick to say a player is finished, done with, throw him in the dumpster...just because they struggle for a period. People don't take into account O-Line, Quarterback and coaching changes, etc. I'm not saying that Edge is going to have a great year, but I think if the guy was in Dallas or New Englands offense you guys would probably look at things differently.

It's amusing to me when guys like Edge and Fred Taylor get over-valued in PPR leagues (yes, I realize most of the posts in this thread are referring to standard scoring leagues). Even this year when Taylor was drafted in my leagues, I generally heard people giving props for getting good value late (he was actually dropped already in one of my leagues if I'm not mistaken).

I see Edge as nothing more than an okay replacement RB2 for bye weeks/injuries and Fred Taylor as a poor man's Edgerrin James (though Taylor at least has a bit of upside if MJD gets hurt). I'd generally rather have a number of guys who have more upside but are less of a known quantity on my bench though there are certain times I'll allocate a roster spot to a fairly steady, low-upside, low/middle-production guy like Edge.

Both guys don't score TDs and don't get receptions and consequently receiving yards. Barring an injury to MJD, this will remain true for Taylor, and with the addition of Hightower and Warner being at QB instead of Leinart, the upside for Edge in the TD/receiving department has been decreased from an already low baseline.

In PPR leagues, I'd rather have a McFadden, Chris Johnson, or Ronnie Brown (all of whom were draftable at or after Edge's ADP), or probably even a Deangelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart than Edge. Guys like Williams and Stewart may very well end up getting outscored by a bit by Edge if both play 16 games but would likely outscore him by a substantial margin if one got injured and either could end up potentially outscoring him or in the same ballpark even in a committee role without any injuries.
All of my analysis is based on PPR

"90% of the game is half mental" - John Madden

This quote is actually from Yogi Berra. Madden was quoting him during a game I guess. Of all the "Yogi-isms" this is the one I most relate to.
