Can you do me a favor and post your roster in this thread? It will satisfy a curiousity, and it's no trick. I'll explain later. But I need a handful of Peyton or Brady owner teams to figure things out.
Not my team, but this is the roster of the GIRL who took Brady 3rd overall in my league last year.... she finished in 7th and did not make the playoffs

Taking dream's lead here's some teams I could dig up:
Team A: 6-7 Lost in Semis 3rd Place Thieving Larrys 1. (11) Peyton Manning 2. (14) Travis Henry 3. (35) Carnell Williams 4. (38) Marques Colston 5. (59) Braylon Edwards 6. (62) Julius Jones 7. (83) Jason Witten 8. (86) Baltimore 9. (107) Jerry Porter 10. (110) Mike Bell 11. (131) James Jones 12. (134) David Garrard 13. (155) Reggie Williams 14. (158) Eric Johnson 15. (179) Daunte Culpepper 16. (182) Shayne Graham 17. (203) Michael Jenkins 18. (206) Kevin Faulk
Team B: 7-6 5th Lost Quarters 1. (8) Peyton Manning 2. (21) Chad Johnson 3. (36) Thomas Jones 4. (49) Jamal Lewis 5. (64) Chicago 6. (77) Santonio Holmes 7. (92) Fred Taylor 8. (105) DeShaun Foster 9. (120) Isaac Bruce 10. (133) Randy McMichael 11. (148) Eddie Kennison 12. (161) Neil Rackers 13. (176) Chris Brown 14. (189) Ted Ginn Jr. 15. (204) Daunte Culpepper
This other team didn't take Brady or Manning but took a 2nd round QB. Relevant?
Team 3: 7-6 7th Lost Quarters 1. (4) Joseph Addai 2. (25) Carson Palmer 3. (32) Larry Fitzgerald 4. (53) Jerious Norwood 5. (60) Carnell Williams 6. (81) Chris Chambers 7. (88) Devery Henderson 8. (109) Jason Witten 9. (116) Pittsburgh 10. (137) Jeff Wilkins 11. (144) Joe Horn 12. (165) Seattle 13. (172) Matt Schaub 14. (193) Michael Turner 15. (200) Damon Huard
Looking over these teams my thoughts are that it's obvious none of them had great records. Small sample size though. The thing is you really have to find good value at WR/RB in the mid rounds. Team A did this with Colston, Edwards and Witten which is why they went so far (3rd). However their RBs were ugly. Team B did this to some extent with Lewis but they really lacked any WR outside of CJ. Team 3 had no depth at WR or RB. The problem with this is that firstly, not getting a RB or at least a very very good WR in the first (none really drafted last year) really hurts. I'd say about 1/3 of the top 9-10 RBs last year were significant under performers or busts. That still destroys the number of 3-5 round RBs that did better than their draft position. Plus, not having a top WR really hurts and finding breakouts in the 3-7 is hard. Team A got lucky with Colston and Edwards. QB early is just too risky for me, especially since neither Manning or Palmer, the two top QBs performed up to their ADP. And I'm pretty sure Brady was certainly not taken in the top 2 rounds in almost every pool last year. ADP was late 3rd- mid 4th.
Here's the team of the guy that drafted Brady in my league - He was actually BIG on brady going into the year:
(1) Tomlinson (20) T. Brady (21) Holt (40) Burress (41) B. Jacobs (60) D. Jackson (61) S. Diego (80) B. Watson (81) B. Favre (100) B. Marshall <- steal (101) V. Morency (120) K. Jones (121) E. Kennison (140) D. Mason (141) J. Elam
He finished 2nd @ 10-3 in the regular season, but won the Championship.
1. (6) Peyton Manning 2. (15) Edgerrin James 3. (26) Adrian Peterson 4. (35) Andre Johnson 5. (46) Jamal Lewis 6. (55) Calvin Johnson 7. (66) Jeremy Shockey 8. (75) Santana Moss 9. (86) Braylon Edwards 10. (95) Derrick Mason 11. (106) LenDale White 12. (115) Warrick Dunn 13. (126) Matt Schaub 14. (135) Mike Nugent 15. (146) Indianapolis
I got these rosters from a friend so if there is anything I left out that you need, just let me know.

I want to address the whole "taking a QB in the first or second round" thing. I am certainly NOT trying to make the argument that this is the right or wrong way to approach things, nor am I taking last year's freak year by Brady/Moss as a standard. I just want to do some comparisons. If the end results are interesting, I'll write it all up for a possible article here. If they're lame, I will make that assertion and tell us all to go about our businesseseses.
Thanks for digging up the past, and for people who are just reading now, chip in! If you have your last year's draft results still, hook me up!
And yes, any first/second round QB is valid, though I am probably going to ignore rosters that are filled via homerism, because they're probably less relevant.
I'll participate in this. Only one team drafted a QB in the first two rounds of the draft.
