We haven't even started the typical cycle of Blizzard announcing a release date that's a year off, and then delaying it three times beyond that.

So true. August 2009 I think is best case right now actually. Some ppl are whispering it's going to be December. But that's probably crazy talk.

This is slightly different than past releases though.

SC2 has been in development for 5 years before they even announced it to the public. They started immediately after War3 was released. 2003. Announced it in 2007. The old Blizzard would have announced it in 2004 with a 2006 release date and 3 delays to 2009. Hopefully this time around we only get 1 or 2 delays.
