The old, give it to 'em before they earn it, ranking.
It's week 1. None of these teams have "earned" a thing.
Agreed. Thats why you've seen very little commentary from me about others' rankings.
If I really wanted to be a tool, I would probably have Bama #1, Mizzou #2, UCLA #3, ECU #4, BGSU #5, etc. if I want to get technical about which 1-0 teams have the most impressive win based on perceived strength of opponent. Logically, no 0-1 team can possibly be ranked, and any 1-0 team with a win over a 1AA team, needs to be ranked behind any 1-0 team that beat a 1A opponent. Any 0-0 teams need to be ranked in between all of the 1-0 and 0-1 teams.

So, as such...I don't give Bama credit for beating a Top 10 team. If Clemson looks good in the coming weeks, I'll consider that in where I'm ranking Bama.
So, they completely dismantle the ACC favorite, but they barely squeak in your top 25 because they start two or three freshmen?
And judging by your rankings, you considered UCLA and Utah's victories more impressive?

Good riddance!
Oh my god, ENOUGH with "the ol' ball coach" crap, ESPN! It was disgusting watching that game - all references to South Carolina HAD to include Spurrier's name. Let me tell you - outside the south, nobody cares about Steve Spurrier. Why ESPN lathers this guy's ____ so much is beyond me. The love affair they have with this coach is enough to make me never watch another SC game they televise.
I was doing my due diligence on SC tonight. Done. I don't have to watch them again, aside from highlights if they win a few more games.
Sounds like any ESPN broadcast. They latch onto one big name and never let it go. Sounds like a typical New England, Indy, or Green Bay (now NYJ) game on there.
