QB-Kitna is what he is. He makes poor decisions under pressure. Not taking the clear path to the end zone, throwing an INT at the start of the second half, sliding short of the 1st down, holding the ball long enough to get sacked, and showing his leadership by throwing a sideline tantrum. This is your captain on week 1!?! Kitna showed that he cannot make accurate passes, throwing behind too many receivers when he had no pressure. B-.
RB-Kevin Smith showed some promise, running hard and following what little blocks he had. Rudi also ran hard. He did only rush for 3 ypc, totaling 48yds. C+
WR-Franchise looked good, but both he and Roy didn’t seem to get open as much as they should have been able too, and didn’t exploit the young, short CBs. Franchise is the go to receiver netting 7 catches for 107. Roy made a spectacular TD catch, but only had two more receptions and dogged it on several routes. B.
TE-Campbell shocked the world by starting a game, then lived up to his legacy be getting hurt. Nobody blocked well or looked particularly comfortable in passing routes. E.
O-line-Terrible game. Backus is hurt, I suppose, as he was getting manhandle plenty and injury has always been his excuse. The guards were sub-par. What troubles me most is that Foster was absolutely owned, Backus sucked, the game was over, yet I don’t recall seeing out vaunted 1st rnd pick Nostar Cherilous even get in the game. D.
D-line-There is a saying in this league. “If you have 11 D-linemen, you have none”. Lets count it down; will go with tackles because we don’t have time to count missed tackles.
Superstar Redding: 3 tackles. Glad you got paid.
Superstar ex-Buc White: 1 tackle, 1 sack. Vs. a back-up tackle! Nice effort.
FA ex-Buc Darby: 2 tackles. War Daddy must have eaten too many hearts before the game 'cause he showed no heart during it.
DeVries-3 tackles. Whatever, it's DeVries. One-trick poodle.
If you recall NimRod has always said this D has to have good play from the D-line. Want to give them a D, but cannot in good conscious. E.
LB-What plays they managed not to over-run, they show an incredible ability not to make the tackle. Simply not one play stood out on either the positive or negative side. There were too many negatives for any one to stand alone, and no positives. None!!!. Not one good play from the LBs. Absurd. Watch for Sims to be exposed this year. He is not a great LB, merely serviceable. He rarely makes plays at the line of scrimmage and over runs plays routinely. And he is far and away our best. E.
Secondary-Weren’t asked to do much, really. Support the run and cover bad receivers. Did neither. Fisher starts over Bodden and gets torched to start the game. Bodden would show his support later by getting lit up himself. So many ex-Bucs, so few tackles. E.
Special teams-return games are right where NimRod wants them. Boring, safe, and unproductive. The idiocy of having Furrey return kicks is rich when you consider that he is a WR who drops as if he'd been shot at the hint of contact. What were we expecting to see? E.
Coaching-this is all on NimRod now. He has gone out of his way to sign system guys and talks, talks, talks about the fundamentals yet shows time and time again that he has no clue about getting a team ready to win games. The ex-Buc D-line coach has shown no ability to assemble a D-line let alone a team. One need only look at him standing on the sideline doing nothing while his QB berates his OC to see that NimRod not only has no say in the O, he doesn’t care to. NimRod is so overmatched that it is apparent that players don't not only care about what he says, they don't even seem to listen. Remeber, this D effort was the result of not being able to stop a game plan that was severely dumbed down for a rookie QB, rookie OL, rookie head coach, and new RB. And from the second play of the game we had no idea what was coming. Total lack of game-time preperation. This man needs to be fired. Right here. Right now. E.
