Chiefs: Rookie Johnson to back up Holmes

News
Chiefs head coach Dick Vermeil announced Monday that first-round draft pick Larry Johnson has been promoted ahead of Derrick Blaylock on the running back depth chart and is now backing up Priest Holmes. “I just feel compelled to get Larry going a little bit more just in case he's needed somewhere down the road in the second half of the season,'' Vermeil told the Kansas City Star, adding: “Sooner or later, if we need him, I want those (skills) honed within our own offense and have more confidence that he's ready to go and have our coaches have more confidence that he's ready to go"

It was only a matter of time before Johnson was backing up Priest. The two should be handcuffed by fantasy players for insurance purposes, as they prepare for their playoff run.

I am sure that there is nothing wrong with him. I would think that as KC closes on payoff time they will sit Holmes a bit to rest him. I figure that is why the big V would like LJ to be ready. More of a formality .

I dropped Lelie and grabbed him, if for no other reason then to keep him from showing up on the roster of the team I hope to face in the championship game. It's a 16 team league and his RB's are A Green, Holmes, and Duckett.
