please help with rule question

this happened in the sf seattle game
seattle def recovers a fumble in turn fumble it themselves,the ball is bouncing around,seattle grabs it from the air and runs it in
did the defense somehow turn into the offense

in week one def picked up a fumble and ran for a td no other problems,fantasy player was awarded 6 pts
in the scoring system i had def.fumble rec for td 6 pts,but for the seattle fumble did not give the points
then i added off.fumble rec for td and it gave him the 6 pts

my question is did the defense turn into the offense and should he recieve the 6 points

Nope

Don't know who "he" is in your question.

If you use DEF/ST unit, then the SEA DEF/ST unit receives the credit for the touchdown.
If you use just a DEF unit, then the SEA DEF unit should receive the credit
If you use IDP, then the Seattle DEF player that crossed the goal line with possession of the ball should get the DEF TD.

You don't turn into an offensive unit just because the ball hits the turf when it is not supposed to.
