Just to confirm Treats breaking news..........

Gus Frerotte will start the Vikings' Week 3 game against the Panthers. Tarvaris Jackson has been benched.

Coach Brad Childress thinks Frerotte gives 0-2 Minnesota its best chance to win, and we can't disagree. Jackson may have had a solid preseason, but he's looked lost and less than 100% in real games. The Vikes will continue to go run heavy with Frerotte under center, but he should be grabbed in 2-QB leagues. If history holds true with Frerotte, though, he won't keep the job long.

He's not really worth an add since the recievers are trash and AP runs the show.

Worth a shot, although I'm not sure if the overall offense is going to improve much if at all. I worry about Frerotte behind a line that's still a little shaky in pass protection. In a few weeks I think fans will be clamoring for Booty to get the nod.

Ha ha ha. They might not be Carter, Reed, and Moss, but Berrian is solid. Rice has potential and Allison is my friend and he is an athelete. Just give him a chance in the passing game. Why didn't Minnesota sign any of the FA QBs that were available guys like Leftwich, etc etc might should have been brought in to at least give them more options. Now there's not much left.

Daunte Culpepper (another shot in Minny any time this year?)
Todd Collins (proven solid vet, not the best but better than T-Jax)
Aaron Brooks and Drew Bledsoe come to mind (wonder where they are?)
Chris Weinke (whatever happened to him?)

There are others that come to mind. You'd think Minny would at least give one of these vets a shot.

I'm not sure if Bootlicker is the answer at QB for them.

Does this increase Berrian's value?

I think it does. I saw in my roster updates that like 31,000+ people dropped Berrian. So he could be had off the waiver wire in some leagues. I traded to get him from someone who drafted him pretty high. My hope was that Frerotte would be the starter soon and would definitely open up the passing game. So Frerotte does not have much value and I wouldn't start him but Berrian should definitely benefit from this move. Heck he had pretty good numbers when Grossman, Orton and Greise were chucking the ball to him so Berrians value can only go up.

On second thought, I hate this move. Jackson, at this point, is not a good QB and I will not try to refute that. But I still feel he is the QB that best gives the Vikings a chance to win. If Shiancoe doesn't drop a pass in the endzone last week nobody is complaining about Jackson and the Vikings are 1-1. Childress goes to bat for this guy for 2 years and bails now after only 16 career starts? If you had any semblance of doubt that Jackson was the man, bring in a capable veteran to compete and step in if needed, not Frerotte who is a career backup and best used for short stretches. Gus will likely get exposed if he is out there for any length of time.

Seems like an attempt by Childress to save face. Jackson is being scapegoated for poor decisions and playcalling by Chilly. God I hate Brad Childress.
