#1 Waiver Priority

Disclaimer: Not meant to be a DTKW question, just a real life example.
Coles is sitting on the wire and I don't really need him.
Donald Lee is sitting on the wire and I've got an open slot at TE for week 4.

How is the #1 waiver priority usually handled?
Is it usually kept for later on in the season, in hopes that another manager gets fed up with one of his under performing marquis players?
Is it alright to pick up a marginal player (Coles or Lee) because of roster needs or just for the heck of it?

What's the normal line of thinking when you have the #1?

Our priority re-sets each week, but I look at it different ways depending on how my team is built or performing. Somtimes I will take a player, just because I don't want him on another team, even though I may not use him. I may take a player/position I need with the pick. Overall, I like to wait things out a little especially at the beginning of the season. I don't make very many moves on the WW in the first 3 weeks or so, unless there is a injury. You need to see how teams are using players and can't jump on the one week wonders with the risk of losing trade bait or better down the line.

depends on league size and whatnot, but in a deeper league there usually arent too many great options worth saving your priority for

As far as your te goes...I would wait until players clear and snag you a backup....unless there is a stud out there...which isn't the case...
