Warner contemplated retiring after Boldin was hurt?

Just saw on ESPN that Warner texted his wife he was going to retire, as he felt it was his fault he threw the ball too high on the play where Boldin was injured. Afer Boldin was released from the hospital he retracted his thoughts. This is a bit rash, no?

That's a bit much but it just goes to show you what kind of guy he is. He really cares for his teammates and was that affected by it. Granted, too much. Might have reminded him how old he is and what the NFL can do to you.

Obviously it was a very emotional time for the whole team. Even harder for Boldin's offensive teammates and even more so with his QB and fellow WRs I'm sure. It's football at it's worse sadly, but he is going to be fine, and Warner is going to keep playing.

All is well that ends well.

I'm guessing this type of emotional reaction isn't unusual. What is unusual is telling people about it. You tend to see this with older guys, typically QBs. Favre's been doing it for years. Normally you wouldn't tell the press about your 'weaknesses' - these guys get old enough and they're like your grandpa...they'll tell anybody anything they want. They could care less what you think about it.

In any case, good to see Boldin should have no long term effects.

I surely see your point, and agree. It still surprises me that a vet QB isn't keenly aware of what could happen when you lead your receivers into trouble.
Wonder how Boldin will be once he returns?

Another thing that made it even worse, it was in garbage time in the game. The game was over and you had this happen.

I'm just really glad Boldin should be ok. Hate to see this kind of stuff happen ever. Warner is a really great guy for caring about this.
