There are no new developments with the Lions and free agent cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, according to Lions general manager Martin Mayhew.

"I have not met with him yet and it stands about where it did before," Mayhew said during a pre-draft press conference Thursday. "We haven't made much progress in that direction now."

Mayhew said he doesn't expect to meet with Jones before the draft, which isn't too surprising. The Lions will likely see how the draft shakes out and if a good young corner is available to them before they make a move on Jones.

Whodey think gunna sign that Pacman?

Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones reportedly is close to a deal to play for the Cincinnati Bengals this season. The team's defensive coordinator said he doesn't believe Jones will be a distraction for the defending AFC North champions.

"We've got a bunch of strong character guys on defense," Mike Zimmer told The Dallas Morning News. "I'm not going to let this kid screw up our chemistry. I don't think he will. He looked me in the eye and shook my hand and said, 'Coach, I just want to play.' He seems very humble. He seems to understand."

Edit: Apparently Jones and Cinci have come to a two-year agreement.

Simply amazing how the Bungals always seem to go after troubled players. I fear for PacMan and all the strippers in the Cincy area with the Bungals track record for keeping players out of trouble.
Hope he can keep his nose clean, I would like to see if he has anything left or has his once promising career been destroyed.

You got to think that eventually he will avoid trouble given it is his livelyhood. Hope he finally gets it. He has the talent.

"I hadn't been drinking," Jones told WCPO-TV after he exited jail. "I was with my wife. It was her birthday.

"It don't make no sense," added Jones, who'll be arraigned Monday. "There is no reason why I should have got locked up. No reason."

Police said Jones, 27, needed to be escorted out of a downtown Cincinnati bar after repeatedly being asked to calm down. Jones went outside but allegedly yelled profanities and gestured wildly, leading police to arrest him. Jones allegedly tried to escape his handcuffs, so two officers had to restrain him before taking him to Hamilton County Jail around 3 a.m.

Wow. Not surprised at a troubled athlete finding trouble again, but at his reaction. I suppose there will be witnesses to clear up the he said police said issue. Seems unusual for the alledged to claim such absolute innocence. I expect "they were harrassing me, so..." or "I was trying to break-up a fight" blah blah. But to claim not to be drinking and not to have cursed or resisted arrest is an interesting tact. And one that should fall apart readily if he is lying.

Guess who's back in the news:

Adam 'Pacman' Jones arrested on assault charge
Jun. 11, 2013
Written by Carrie Blackmore Smith and Joe Reedy

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested Monday after police said he allegedly punched a woman outside of a Downtown bar last week.

Charged with one count of assault, Jones was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Monday after he allegedly struck Shannon Wesley, 34, just before midnight on June 5, according to police.

Police said Jones and Wesley got into a verbal argument at FB’s, a bar at 126 W. Sixth St.

It’s the latest in a long string of arrests for the football player, just as the Bengals’ mandatory minicamp begins today. The Bengals did not wish to comment on Jones’ arrest, saying it would not be appropriate since there is a pending legal issue.
Jones tweeted Monday afternoon: “Just got arrested for protecting myself, I will not let this break me or change what I have work so hard for ... .”

Jones’ agent, Peter Schaffer, said the incident happened after the Reds-Rockies game and that Jones was protecting himself after he had a bottle of beer thrown at him.

Arrested again. Disorderly conduct this time. That's what, 8 arrests since joining the league? The guy clearly can't make good decisions for himself and I hope he gets some help.
