I took over a dynasty team this year that was in terrible shape so I'm rebuilding the team and had TO so I shipped off TO for Roy just to have my starters set for some time...I'm really interested to see what Roy can do with Romo at QB, also I want to see what positions each guys play...TO plays the 'Z' if I'm not mistaken which is the same spot Roy had in Detroit so he will be learning a new position here, but the sky is the limit for a guy who wanted to come here and has a good supporting cast.
As far as Detroit fans, how does a 1st rd of Stafford and Brian Orakpo sound? Orakpo is a monster and is looking like a legit top 15 pick, I think they should take advantage and get an elite pass rusher, had Millen taken Ware over Mike Williams(sorry to bring that up) would give that cover 2 a whole new dimension.

I think the Lions will roll with Stanton next season (or Orlovsky if he somehow impresses) and draft Michal Oher for their O-Line and probably a D-Lineman (depending on how the draft plays out) with Dallas' pick. With the Lions on track to nab pick #1, you also have to look at their 33rd pick as a potential key player too. I'd like to see them grab a Rogers replacement in Terrance Taylor from Michigan. He's a 320 pound senior and could step right into the starting lineup.

There is no way to predict what the Lions will do next year. They have to decide on if they are going to con the fans into thinking Mayhew, Lewand, and NimRod Marinelli are the best GM/head coaching combo for next season or to abandon ship. Since keeping their inner circle jerks is cheaper and easier to control than hiring an outside GM and Head Coach who may have their own opinions I am guessing they will keep the inner circle jerks. So going on that assumption and the proven inability of Head Coach NimRod Marinelli to develop any player I could very easily see them keeping Orlovsky on as their starter for next season. The Lions keeping NimRod on as head coach virtually cripples Stanton since NimRod can't coach 'em up and doesn't seem the least bit interested in playing him. So as long as Orlovsky doesn't embarrass himself any more than trotting out of the endzone he will probably keep his job this year. And as long as they keep the current inner circle jerks in place I don't think it matters one iota who they pick next year. Only dumb luck could help them get talented enough players to overcome the lack of talent on this team and the detrimental coaching that is rampant under NimRod Marinelli. They whole bunch of them should be in Pennsylvania right now helping Matt Millen make some furniture.

Yup, adding Williams definitely addressed the Cowboys' needs on defence - holding the lowly Rams to a measly 34 pts and a scant 180 yds rushing and 3 rushing TD's was a big help by the defense with Romo out! Great move there Jerry!!!

Not that they could use a 1 and a 3 to rebuild a suddenly poor D. Great move indeed.

the "suddenly poor talent" is due to injuries/suspensions man (and poor coaching).
pro-bowl Newman (out) pro-bowl R.Williams (out) - say what you want, but k.davies is not playing well either P. Watkins (out) A. Jones (out)
all of these guys will be back either in a few weeks, or next year, so there's no need to use draft picks to upgrade positions that are perfectly fine.
If anything, the cowboys needed another great WR. After what happened last year in the playoffs, w/ TO being injured and P. Crayton sucking, we need another WR that can step up in case something happens. That's what R. Williams was brought in for.

Yep, because Jerry made that move for one year, not the future or anything The defense sucks and still does, just because that's the case doesn't mean a future #1 wasn't a priority, and for a team with a boatload of picks nxt year it was a move that could be made, he has been trying to trade for Roy for 2 years now, hardly has anything to do with the defense.
I hardly think that makes it a bad trade because the defense played bad, I don't know why everyone thinks this was a desperation move to try and help the team right now, the same deal was almost reached on draft day, let's now judge a trade after one week maybe.

People think this was a desperation move by Jerruh because: The Cowboys were struggling Pacman was taking the shine of the star Jerruh loves him some Roy Romo's pinky was taking the shine off the star Jerruh gave up way more than Roy was worth Jerruh traded for a commodity he didn't need while ignoring a D that is struggling.

Again, Jerry tried trading for Roy during the draft, and prior, so I think that cancels out 1, 2, and 3, if he wanted Roy before all those happened, and if the deal happened on draft day nobody would even bring those up at all.
As far as the defense, Jerry put talent all over that D, is he supposed to keep trading for defensive players after we don't perform? How about blaming the terrible Defensive coordinator, or lame duck Wade who was supposed to do wonders with this 3-4 but has yet to do so yet...Jerry signed Zach Thomas which was probably our best signing, re-signed Jay Ratliff who is arguably our best defensive player this year period, we tendered Canty on the other end who is going to be rich next summer, brought back Hamlin, drafted 2 great rookie corners, took a gamble with Pacman, why should he feel the need to go get anyone else on that side of the ball? We suck on defense, no way around it, but lets not say he "ignored" the D because that is completely false.
Jerry giving up too much? Maybe, I'm sure you feel that way, but if your in the Cowboys position, they were probably going to sign a FA WR soon, or move up in the draft, one or the other.
Now if your late in the 1st, want to move up to late teens, automatically it cost you a 3rd rd pick to get anywhere close, so whats the difference here? You don't think Roy was worth a 1st and a 3rd when he has produced an 80 catch/1300 yd/8 TD type season in Detroit, I think we'll gamble a 3rd on him over the next hyped WR that doesn't pan out or help out immediately...Now we overpaid I don't get it, but we got a sure thing, in the middle of his prime, capable of keeping Romo with a #1 target for his career even if TO gets hurt and we don't have to rely on a rookie WR developing into what we want, as far as picks next year:
2nd rd 3rd rd via Cleveland 4th rd 4th rd via Detroit 5th rd 5th rd via Tennessee(Pacman suspension) 6th rd pick via Miami 7th rd pick 7th rd pick via Detroit
So sorry if I don't see that as giving up too much, I can guarantee we would be moving up to make a play on Crabtree or something similiar, when your trying to win a super bowl in the next few years you can take risk like trading up for guys you want, they essentially did the same thing in trading for Roy, somebody who wanted to come here, and got a cheaper contract then what we would of had to sign him to in FA if a bidding war got started...You can argue we don't need him this year, and I would say the same, it was a long term move and one in the short term that they hope improves the ball club just the same.
