Niners making a pitch for Kitna?

While a source said yesterday that the Niners were not interested in trading for Lions quarterback Jon Kitna, another source said offensive coordinator Mike Martz is still trying to convince team officials to make a pitch for Kitna.
It appears that Kitna will be placed on injured reserve if he's not dealt by today's 4 p.m. deadline but, so far, the Lions haven't done anything officially. The Lions could be waiting to see if there's going to be some last-minute action.
Martz and Kitna have a very close relationship and it's believed that Martz is trying to convince head coach Mike Nolan that Kitna could be the answer to their quarterback problems.
The Niners have lost their last three games -- they haven't won since beating the Lions in week three -- and O'Sullivan is completing just over 50 percent of his passes while throwing four touchdowns and seven interceptions in that span.
Apparently, members of San Francisco's personnel department, while acknowledging the problems at quarterback, are resisting the move to bring in Kitna.
While the Lions believe Kitna's back problems make him a candidate for the injured reserve list -- which means he'd be lost for the season -- Kitna has maintained that he'll be able to return to the field in a week or two.
Sounds like Martz wants his female dog back and there are rumblings that if they don't turn it around soon HC Nolan could get fired.
Wouldn't you think the morons in the Lions FO would take something rather than nothing for the Kitna? He is surely a cancer in the lockerroom with his open fueding with Colletto & Kippy and placing him on IR serves no purpose other than to say screw you Jonny.
That the idiots woudl think of putting him on IR when he feels he can play in a couple weeks shows the cluelessness of this organization that will remain if they insist on keeping Lewand and Mayhew. Do they feel the Kid Injury Stanton is going to survive the season any more than the Polish Popgun will (can Orlovski change his number to 2?) ? So why dispose of your best QB?
And doesn't this make you question the whole Martz forced Stanton to go on IR last year story? Aren't they threatening to do the same thing with Kitna?
I hope the Lions can start unloading players today and will be very disappointed if Kitna and Roy are still wearing Honalulu Blue and Silver come Sunday.
FIRE THE WHOLE FLIPPIN' BUNCH!
