Where can I find position-based Strength of Schedules?

Postby tjdoren » Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:22 am

I'm a strong believer in looking at the strength of schedule to evaluate players in your draft, and especially in evaluating trades. However, the best data I have available is based on my own spreadsheet I developed, which uses each defenses' passing yards, rushing yards, and scoring average (easy data to find on the internet). It takes all that data, matches it to each team's schedule, and produces a weekly S.O.S. ranking for Passing, Rushing, and Scoring. I like it alot, but I want to take it a step further...

I want to look at each defense's stats against each position. For example, you could have a team that is poor against the pass, but maybe they always shut down the TE's. So your WR's and QB's would have a good S.O.S. against that team, but the TE would have a poor S.O.S. One website that does this sort of a ranking is http://www.junkyardjake.com/Matchup/. Notice their nifty matchup rankings by position.

Does anyone know good websites (preferably free, but not required):
1. Where I can find the raw stats for each defense vs. each position?
2. Where I can find pre-calculated rankings for each defense vs. each position?
I like Junkyard Jake's, but it isn't summarized in a table for each team.

If I can find #1, then I can calculate my own rankings and won't need #2. As an incentive to help me...I might be willing to share my spreadsheet with you, if you lead me to the data I need.

Thanks, suhgamer, you are on the right track. I actually use that site for my draft preparation. It's great. But once I get into about the 3rd or 4th week, I don't like to use stats from the prior season anymore. I'd like to be able to replicate something like this based on the current season's YTD stats.

Sweet!!! Thanks...at first glance, that looks like what I need. I won't have time to build it into my spreadsheet for a while, because we're doing a ton of painting at my house for the next 2 weeks. But when I get it done, I'll check back and share some results with you.
