my team is a mess right now, we start 1 qb 2 rb 2 wr 1 flex rb/wr 1 te 1 k 1 d
Addai is injured, Forte on bye. Royal on bye, jennings on bye, winslow suspended for game, chambers unlikely to play.
now my qb will be warner, 2 backs fargas, mewelde moore, 2 wideouts desean jackson, to. then I got a D
im without a 3 flex, a tight end, and a kicker.
i picked up dunn. i'm going to put in a waiver claim for kevin faulk or find a 3rd wideout on the wire if dunn can't go, so my flex will be taken care of.
so its down to my TE or Kicker.
i figure if I'm going to make a move here i'd grab a kicker because they'll put up more then a waiver wire tight end.
now what would you do in this situation. do your best to fill your team with capable players on the block and dumping a chambers or royal for a kicker?
just concede tight end and kicker positions and basically concede the week. one part of me says do your best to fill your team with a starting 9. other part of me says i can't get rid of winslow, chambers, or royal for a kicker or a tight end.
at the same time I risk by not putting up a full squad of falling further behind in my divisional race, although I have a good feeling he'll lose with his roster put out this week.
not really the right forum, but i wouldnt just drop those players. leave the starting lineup positions empty, and come monday night if you need players, you can make the decision to pick up a player from that game if its important to you to win. for all you know...your normal starting guys could beat him without you having to drop someone.
I'm with deluxe too, if you have that option. In my leagues, add/drops get locked at 1 pm on Sunday so I wouldn't be able to wait until Monday night to see how the match up is progressing. However, I am never an advocate of just not fielding a team. At worst, you put out the starters you have now and make sure your team will score points regardless.
The other problem is that I only count 13 players listed throughout your post as being on your roster. What you need to do is let this post die, go to the start/sit forum, post your entire roster, and then post the best available WW options for the positions you still need. If you do all of that, plenty of people will give you their thoughts on the matter. But, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, it was difficult to understand your position because I can't get an idea of your entire roster and what you still need.
But I do know that the stars would have to align perfectly for me to ever just give a win away because of bye week issues.
All leagues don't have the same waiver settings - and maybe there isn't anyone worth grabbing for that game at some positions. I don't think Yahoo! allows this with standard settings. Pick a guy up at 12:01 am and you can't play him until the next week I believe.
If you can pick guys up all day Sunday and start them maybe that could give you an option but I wouldn't wait until monday. If you don't have stat tracker guesstimate your scores after the early games. Check if there is an IND/TEN TE if you need a few desperate points on monday night to pull out the win. If your settings allow maybe you can delay the decision a bit.
There's no sunday night game otherwise you might be able to use that as an advantage to increase the emergency player pool.
I wouldn't worry too much about starting a TE if you can fill the rest of your roster without dropping anyone too valuable.
I guess I'd even consider dropping Chambers. With a week 9 bye maybe he clears waivers and you get him back.
Look at your opponents team and use that to help you make a decision. If you're playing a 5-1 team from another division who is a powerhouse and has no byes or injuries this week, concede the week because you'll probably lose either way. If you're playing against the team in your division that's one game in front of you, then you should probably do everything you can to win this week.
i started QB Kurt warner RB Mewelde Moore RB Justin Fargas RB Leon Washington: dropped Dunn at the last minute for him WR Terrell Owens WR DeSean Jackson TE Winslow suspended, none K Matt Stover D Texans
my opponent QB Donovan McNabb RB Chris Johnson RB Clinton Portis RB Maurcie Jones-Drew WR Antonio Bryant WR Santana Moss TE Alex Smith K Rian Lindell D Steelers
i'm leading 106-72. still amazed.
didnt start a Te, got a whopping 5 points from the combo of TO and Fargas and still putup 106.
add to that chambers being injured up to the last second, jennings, royal, forte on bye, and addai injured.
