Thanks a lot deeray ;-D ;-D ;-D

Thanks it makes it worth it when people appreciate what you do. I have been super busy, but I have tried to get it out as soon as I can

Ball State?

Are you guys friggin' kidding me?

On the basic level -- I do my rankings based on 2 things. 1) Main thing -- I put that team up against teams below it and decide whether or not they could beat the team below them. 2) I take record into account.

IMO, Ball State's offense could run with a good amount of teams. Nate Davis is an awesome QB and can pick apart any defense. Their defense is very suspect against solid teams, so maybe they should be a bit lower, but when you look there really aren't great teams in that ranking area.

Now TCU is pretty high in most people's polls, I think they're 17 at the lowest. Are there that few good teams or are we forgetting that they were throttled by Oklahoma? 35-10. Just because they beat a BYU team (SOS:120) that had played nobody yet and was 100% unproven means they're a top 12 team as some people had them?

TCU's combined opponents' records to this point: 30-44

Say what you will about TCU, but any of the top 25 teams would give up 7 PPG when they get to play New Mexico, Stephen F Austin, Wyoming and San Diego St. That sounds like the patsies that Florida beats up every year to open the season. Oh, wait, that's the gauntlet that is TCU's schedule. If anybody could even tell me 2 of the 4 mascots of the above teams I'd be impressed...

Why not complain about FSU? They have 6 wins, but 2 are against DII schools, 1 is against a horrible COL team, 1 against Miami (who hasn't been tough), and they squeaked out against NCST. Also, they would have lost to VT if VT would not have lost its top 2 QBs. Basically it is the same argument for TCU as I said for Ball State. I think the top 8 teams in the country are far above every other team in the country so of course OK beat them down. It seems that after the top 10 any team could beat any other team.

Why, because he picked apart Northeastern, Western Kentucky, and Eastern Michigan?

Colt Brennan sure looked like he could pick apart any defense last year as he casually threw all over the chumps placed in front of him, and we saw how that worked out. And the crazy thing about that is that compared to Ball State's schedule, Hawaii's joke of a 2007 schedule looks like a ruggid trip through the SEC.

Their defense is very suspect against solid teams

Solid teams like Akron and Kent State? Perhaps we should rephrase that to "their defense is very suspect against slightly better than horrible teams".

With 2 losses, one pretty bad, and only 1 quality win, MInnesota, they're still ranked "high", and Penn St is certainly benefiting from OSU's high ranking.

Each team's best wins:
Ohio St has beaten Minnesota (7-1), Michigan St (7-2), Troy (5-2) and Wisconsin (4-4)
Penn St has beaten Ohio St (7-2), Oregon St (4-3), Wisconsin and Illinois (4-4)

TCU has beaten BYU (7-1), Stanford (4-4), Colorado St (4-4), and New Mexico (4-5)
BYU has beaten New Mexico, UNLV (3-5) , UCLA (3-5), and Wyoming (2-6)

I know records are not the one all end all but when you consider that Ohio St and Penn St's big wins are coming against BCS opponents who have better records than the non-BCS opponents that BYU and TCU are playing that has to mean something. BYU hasn't beaten a team over .500 all year. TCU's only victory over a .500+ team was over BYU.

Those are the best wins for each of the teams according to one of the computer polls. Which wins are more impressive in your opinion?

Agreed. So in my poll, Penn St is #3 and TCU is #12. OSU is #16 and BYU is #18. I think my rankings reflect both argument. One thing I dont do, which those who go with the eye test do, is easily forget the "bad" losses that a championship team should easily not lose. Would BYU or TCU necessarily lose to the likes of Ole Miss or Oregon St? I try not to assume anything. Hence why I have Penn St so high considering I personally dont believe they're one of the 3 best teams. Who do I have ranked below TCU or BYU that you think I've unfairly ranked?

Trust me, the guy is a very good QB and will be a very good NFL QB as well. NFL scouts are very high on him and for good reason.

Yea, the defense is pretty pathetic, but right now there just aren't very many good teams in college football IMO. I am not saying they could compete in other conferences, but I can say that they are better than some teams I have below them.

You're right. I don't know why but I just hate those TCU/BYU teams for no logical reason. There just isn't anyone to put ahead of them, like you said.

I'm working on my week 11 poll right now, and am wondering if I can just leave spots 7-16 or empty, and pick up at #17 after the top 6? No one really deserves to be in those other spots.

That was the problem I had last week, which is why I had some teams higher than I would like
